Release Date: June 14, 2024
SunnySide is a farming JRPG made by the indie game development team Aftabi Games. According to the development team, SunnySide aims to modernize the classic farming game genre by bridging the gap between tradition and technology, while also highlighting human individuality and harmony.
At the start of the game, you take on the role of a lifelong city dweller who has spent too many years dependent on their successful older sibling and yearns to start a new life building a successful homestead in the countryside. One long train ride and one shorter bus ride later, and you find yourself in SunnySide, a coastal village on the Japanese island of Hokkaido just outside the (fictional) city of Higashi. You have the opportunity to start anew and buy an abandoned SunnySide farm at auction, but will you take that chance?
